Designer Mai ‘working on ready-to-wear line’

Popular stylist and designer Ohimai Atafo has disclosed the possibility of abandoning his fashion label, MAI.
He said this during an interview with NET where he confessed marketing, branding and PR as his other talents, adding that he may likely quit his fashion label if he gets a better offer in any of these fields, especially marketing which he says he has a strong love for.
In his words ‘…I enjoy marketing too but I had to live it for fashion…If I get an exciting marketing offer in a fashion brand tomorrow, I may leave my fashion brand to do that’, he said.
The ex-Guinness brand manager also talked about the controversy of semblance in the designs of his Weddings by Mai collection and London based Kosibah’s creations which he regards as unnecessary and in his words, a figment of people’s short sightedness.
He however mentioned the success recorded on the line and disclosed plans for a ready-to-wear line which will cater for young people, having the urban culture as its focal point. ‘Right now, am trying to do a ready-to-wear line for young people, playing with the whole urban culture and see if I can nail it and I think it is interesting’ he said.
Mai who is presently the fashion editor of Genevieve magazine has styled numerous celebrities including Pasuma Wonder, Omowunmi Akinnifesi, Munachi Abii, 2face and a host of others.
